The discussions over the future of SFDR – Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulations continue as the European Commission is in the process of assessing the input received via public consultation. The impact investing ecosystem has joined the discussion, forming a unified voice. The SFDR letter and United for Impact serve as testimonies calling for the recognition of the role of impact investing within sustainable finance.
In the recently updated ESMA guidelines on funds' names using ESG or sustainability-related terms, ESMA hints at slight recognition of impact investing. Highlighting the marketing power of fund names, ESMA stresses the need to substantiate sustainability-related terms, including 'impact,' with evidence of consistent reflection in the fund's investment policies.
